The Thursday Sisters

The Thursday Sisters: Carole, Andrea, Angela, Katie, Elisha, Jill, Jamie, and Flo

These are the lovely ladies I have book club with. It is my favorite night of the month! I have always loved to read (thanks probably go to my mom and dad who read to us a lot as kids) but this has really sparked that interest to a new (almost embarrasing!) level. We meet every month and have dinner and discuss the book for the month. For June, we read a book called "The Wednesday Sisters" by Meg Waite Clayton. It is a lovely book about a group of ladies who become friends when they meet at a park where they take their kids to play. They start discussing books together, and even writing books and stories. At one point, one of the ladies takes them to a funeral home and makes them all climb in an empty coffin and they shut the lid. They each think about what they wanted to leave behind and what they wanted to be remembered for at the end of their lives. They took individual pictures in the coffin which they each hung on their fridge to remind them. They also took a group picture in the coffin. We figured it was time to have our own picture- I've been in the group since September, but I'm not sure how long it's been going since before I joined. We meet on Thursdays, not Wednesdays, so we are the Thursday sisters. And we didn't have a coffin handy, so this will have to do! I really love these ladies, and book club is my most favorite night of the month. I haven't missed even once- I LOVE IT! Our next book is Gone With the Wind- it is our long summer book (which yours truly suggested- it's in my top 5!). Here's to many more memories with you, my friends!

School's out FOREVER!

I wish. Not really, I actually kind of miss the rugrats already, and it's only been two weeks! What have I been doing with my time, you ask? Teaching summer school in the a.m., reading loads of Harry Potter (In two weeks, I'm on #5 already... Shout out to Brit for getting me all the books used for a mega-good deal! I think all 7 books cost me about $35!), sitting by the pool, taking naps, planning more sweet trips, and eating Chipotle. Yep, that's pretty much it. Rough life, huh? It's been AWESOME. I wish this list included going to the gym or any type of physical activity, but I've been pretty lazy. I don't know why I ever left last summer! The perks of teaching, right? I'm loving it! Here are some pictures of my friends from school, on our last day. Some of my friends are transferring to other schools (and I can't say I blame them, our administration has been pretty crappy) and I shall miss them. A lot. It was our friend Alex's birthday, so we went out country dancing to celebrate. I work with good people- we have dance parties in the halls during passing periods (much to our students' dismay) and we all eat lunch together and laugh at the guy who is in the girl's bathroom (yes, he uses the women's bathroom) for 20 of our 30 minute lunch period. Every day. It makes the hard days bearable when we can laugh with each other- usually at the expense of other people. Two years down! More to go!

Simons, Wittenbach (my running buddy), Sawaya, Lopez, and Hansen. Love them.

Simons, Bedolla, McCarthy, Carozza, and Lunden with Coach. He is retiring- we shall miss him.

Happy Birthday to Alex! We went to camp together last summer- what a pal. I want to punch people who do bunny ears.

The gang rockin' it at Stoney's. "I like these guys! They are funny guys!" (Name that movie!)

School's out FOR SUMMER!

Another year is DONE! WOO! And funny thing, I wasn't even that sad to say goodbye! Well, maybe a little sad. I have a few students that I have taught both years who are moving this summer and I was a little sad to say goodbye to them. It's been a long, exhausting year and I am glad to be done with it. It was mostly the administration part of things that stressed me out this year. Too much drama for me. A bunch of my friends that I teach with are leaving the school, which also makes me sad. I have gotten to know some really fantastic folks.
We took class pictures, a tradition I think I will keep up each year. They're actually good kids and I didn't have too much trouble from them. In fact, I rather enjoyed a lot of them. Plus, they laugh at my jokes and don't tell me I stink when I sing to them, which is more often than I would care to admit... That said, here is to a relaxing summer, filled with book reading, scrapbooking, pool time, and movie marathons! Woot!

4th period Biology

5th period Honors Chemistry

6th period Biology

8th period Biology
(secretly, this was my favorite class)

9th period Honors Chemistry

And for your special viewing pleasure- dissection photos!
These are a few of my favorites that we took throughout the weeks (yes, weeks) of dissections. These are of the rats...
These three boys are some of my favorites of all time. I took one where they were all smiling, but they don't like to smile. I don't get it.

Yep, those are rat testes. Poor guy.

They had a lovely time stretching the guts out and finding all the organs.
That's a small intestine they have stretched out.

The fam comes to visit!

The fam, as in Mom, Dad, and Ashley. Ash just graduated from good ol' SFHS, and they came down to celebrate! I wasn't able to go up to her graduation, so they brought the party to me! We had a lovely time eating food, watching movies, playing BINGO!, and did I say eating food? I love when they come. Not only do I enjoy their lovely company, but they don't need to be entertained. We love just sitting around and taking it easy. They're the best, I couldn't ask for better!
My dad. What a bad A.

My friends from school came and played Bingo with us.
We didn't win, but we have memories to last a lifetime...

Go pops! Nice purple dobber.

They're naturals.

We met Haylie and her family at the theater to see
Prince of Persia. The company was FAB. The movie? eh...

Posers in front of the limo

I stole this pic from mom- it made me sad that I missed out.

And isn't this picture the most precious thing you've ever seen?!
Lily is such a babe.
Dr. Seuss ABC's is the book my dad always read to us,
so this picture is double presh.

Softball Tourney

We recently had a YSA (Young Single Adult) conference here in Vegas will all 11? I think 11, wards around the valley. As part of the conference there was a softball tournament- and we had a BLAST! We put together shirts for our ward (Which say "66% less creepy than your average singles ward. I know, we really are creeps!) and had a fantastic day. A lot of people wanted to play while others were happy cheering from the stands. We didn't do so hot in our games, but we def had the best crowd out. I really like my ward. Everyone gets along really well and we all have the best time when we are together.

Coach Simons shouting directions from the bench.

Run, Forrest! RUN!

And I met Thurl Bailey at the Sunday night fireside. Totes.
