I am in love with music. It seems like I always have it playing- whether I'm cleaning, typing, reading, resting, playing, or driving, I always have music on. Don't get me wrong- I do appreciate my quiet time also. But there is so much good music out there, and I can not get enough of it. So for those of you who are interested- which may be none of you I'm sure- here are some of my favorite albums, new and old, that are part of my "faves" on my iTunes playlist. Please note: they are in alphabetical order. Because I'm slightly obsessive with organization, and I can't put them in order of favorites. I don't really have favorite anything. I tend to put my favorites in "top ten" lists and other such methods. With no further ado...
Alanis Morrisette: Jagged Little Pill
This is the only good thing I remember from Junior High. Really, not the best album because I only like some of the songs- but it does bring me some happy memories.
Cake: Comfort Eagle
This album reminds me of my good friend Michael Moffat- we spent a lot of time together in 2005 (wow- that was a lot time ago, Michael!) hanging out and doing random fun things. We went on lots of drives up the canyon in the fall and would often rock out to Cake. Anything by Cake is fun, and I love singing to their songs.
Carrie Underwood: Some Hearts
I pretend like I don't like country, but I do. Secretly. And I LOVE Carrie Underwood. Except "Jesus Take the Wheel." I don't like songs after hearing them so much- and this one was totally over played. Totally.
Coldplay: Viva la Vida
This album will always remind me of summer 2008, working at the snack shack at the city ballpark. Oh, what a magical summer it was, and Coldplay was a main player in bringing the magic. "Strawberry Swing" is my favorite. When I hear it I think of driving down the riverbottoms with Ash, Jason, Kimbie, and Kenz on our way to the reservoir to swim the day away. A magical summer it was.
Collective Soul: Collective Soul
This album is super great. I do love Collective Soul, and am no respecter of albums when it comes to them. This one is my favorite, though.
Counting Crows: hm...
I really can't pick a favorite album. When I get in the Counting Crows zone, I just put their albums on shuffle and let the music work its magic on my happy ears. Before they were the Counting Crows, Adam Duritz had a band called The Himalayans. Their CD is just as good. LOVE IT.
Donavon Frankenreiter: Donavon Frankenreiter
This guy is so chill... I love it. My favorite songs are "Butterfly" and "Call Me Papa." The melodies are beautiful, and the messages are happy. You'd be wise to check this fella out.
Duffy: Rockferry
This is the gal that sings "Mercy"- you know it. The rest of the album is totally chilled out and relaxed. My faves- "Stepping Stone" and "Syrup and Honey."
Feist: The Reminder
I love Feist. You've probably heard some of her songs, and the ones you haven't heard are just as good. Her voice and style are very unique, and I never don't want to listen to Feist.
The Fray: The Fray
I saw the Fray in concert a few times, and they are FANTASTIC. Any chance you get, you should go see them. What I love about them is the piano- it makes their music perfect.
Hootie & The Blowfish: Looking For Lucky
This is a little unknown album. It's not very old, like 2006. It is SO GOOD!!!! I wish more people appreciated the Hootie love. I love anything Hootie, and this album is so freaking good. I am DYING to see them in concert. My two favorite songs are "Waltz Into Me" (so BEAUTIFUL) and "Get Out of My Mind." Check it out.
The Killers: Day & Age
I've not been the biggest fan of The Killers, but this album is SO AMAZING. I love it. They are coming to Las Vegas next month and I totally want to go. But only if I can win me some tickets on the radio, because I am cheap cheap cheap.
Nickel Creek: Why Should the Fire Die?
This is a band that is kind of blue-grass country-ish. And I am in love with them. They are not very well known, but they should be. This is definitely one you should check out.
Roxette: Joy ride
Yes, it's from the 80's, and yes it is magical. The whole thing.
She & Him: Volume 1
This band is composed of Zooey Deschanel and Matt Ward. It is MAGIC. It reminds of something from the 50's- very cool. Zooey's voice is hypnotic- I love it, and can't wait for Volume 2.
The Shins: Wincing the Night Away
One of the best concerts I have ever been to was The Shins. It was at The Venue in Salt Lake, and it was so packed that I couldn't move. At all. My friends got lost, and I spent the entire concert by myself. And it still rocked. This album is different and fun. You'll like it.
Snow Patrol: A Hundred Million Suns
I have always been a fan, and this is their new album. It's super great.
